We took pretty much everything out of the raised bed and put in new seedlings and this is the result. It’s looking promising so far and I’m excited. We have pumpkins, tomatoes, squash and lettuce growing in the bed. Last year’s cucumber surprisingly came back in one of the planters and our black pearl tomato is already flowering. I would love to plant more out there, we certainly have room for more beds, but Jeff hasn’t gotten the chance to build any more and so our garden remains small this year. But, this is California and the growing season is quite long so there is still time…
What are you growing in your garden?
-joining Amanda today! Hoping to be back next week with Making + Listening.
Beautiful photos! I am envious of your long growing season! Here in Colorado (Front Range) we had snow until mid-May and now in June its blazing hot!! I am from Florida so I am pretty darn amazed that we have anything growing! I cajoled and pestered my husband all winter and he built us beautiful raised beds: http://backwardisgood.blogspot.com/2013/06/our-garden-june.html
Best of luck with your garden! ā¤

Thank you for reading! It’s nice having husbands who can build! š Looking forward to seeing how your garden grows.
it’s looking wonderful! even having a small garden is enjoyable.
thank you! I’m taking notes from your incredible garden!
looks great! we have a small garden, too. small is beautiful š
small is certainly more manageable. š
Just beautiful and wonderful that you are taking the time to grown some of your own food. Good for you, both of you.
Thank you Gramma. Do you guys grow anything in your yard? I remember we picked berries once but I’m not sure if it was at your house or not.
Your garden is beautiful! This is the first year that we’ve had any space to grow anything at all, and although it, too, is small, I’m super excited about it. So far I have a row of three tomato plants and a row of three basil plants. I’m going to lay down more compost, which I think will give me a little more space. Maybe two or three more rows, depending on how close I can put whatever goes in next. I can’t wait to see how your garden grows!
tomatoes are so much fun to grow! Last year we had trouble with powdery mildew but I’m hoping this year we do okay! It’s neat having things in a raised bed versus containers. Are you making your own compost? Glad to have you reading Tracy! š
good for you! you’re well on your way to becoming a homesteader!
