  1. Sunshine, water & gardening!! Bliss!

I just noticed your corn, you might have to hand pollinate it as corn needs to be grown in blocks for adequate wind pollination (I’ve made that mistake a couple of time! šŸ™‚ )

I hope your having a wonderful weekend!

    • What do you mean by blocks ? I had read something like that and so we weren’t sure if we should even do corn but we thought why not? Are neighbor has them all around her shed and we’ve seen a few patches in other front yard garden here.

How would I hand pollinate ? I should always go to you first with my gardening plans. šŸ˜‰

      • The top frills are the male parts, the silks on the corn are the female parts, the male part needs to pollinate with the female part by wind usually but it can also be done by hand. (oh yes we’re talking plant sex! šŸ˜‰ )
The reason why corn is grown in blocks, say 6 x6 or much larger, is it greatly increases the chance of pollination thus corn. šŸ™‚

  2. Probably you’d have to touch all the stamens and then touch the pistil, something like that, just so you’re touching the pollen and going from plant to plant. Your friend knows more about it than I do but when we didn’t get enough wind I’d do that with our tomatoes. Just to make sure. Nice looking and healthy beginnings kiddo. Gardening is another one of the arts you seem to have good luck with. Good for you. Miss you. Put more pics on as the garden grows, okay?
