eloise: You started doing this face this week and I had no idea where you got it from, until Gramma pointed out, Ana from Frozen makes the same face.

eloise: your favorite saturday morning spot, riding in the wagon, headed to the farmers market. Usually you’ll ride until you’ve finished your first strawberry and then you want to get out and pull the wagon yourself.

eloise: I liked this photo because it represents our every day. You sitting in your high chair, eating a snack or lunch after a nap. I enjoy this time with you. We usually chat about what we will do for the rest of the day and I usually put on a record for us to listen too while we snack. An every day shot of my every day girl.

eloise: oh you sunshine girl of mine. Cheeks kissed, eyes green and big. Brave to the new explorations of the day. Little voice but strong opinions, Merry maker and milky queen. “Hu-rway” you shout with arms outstretched. It’s going to be good day, because I have you.

eloise: I thought of these lyrics when I saw this photo…
“Sweet Eloise, sing the birds in the trees
When she is near you can hear them
Singing sweet melodies
They’re just for my Eloise.”

eloise: four months shy of two years old. Your grandmother said to me the other day, “Is she always this joyful?!” And yes, you certainly are just that- joyful. This week before we set out on a walk, you got your shoes, picked out a hat, put on your satchel and wanted to also wear this bib (from your first birthday). I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything More joyful.

eloise: This week’s portrait was so hard to decide. I had two other photos I was struggling with posting… but this one stuck out for me because you look so old. Like I’m looking at you at age 8 or 10. You are becoming your very own person. Deciding what to wear in the mornings, where your toys go, what paint you’d like to use and whether you will be painting by brush or by hand. You are even starting to use your name when referring to things. “Eh-ya”, as you point to the straw hat on the store shelf. “You like that hat Ellie?” “Eh-ya” you say again and push your pointer finger against your cheek to make sure I know who you mean. As you can see, it was clearly “Eh-ya’s” hat. So we brought it home.

eloise: Music makes you so happy. Dancing to the band last weekend at your cousin’s birthday put the biggest smile on your face. In the car, you ask for “Sugar” (A Spoonful of Sugar to be exact) or Let’s Go Fly a Kite. You have your specific requests but when that special song comes on, you certainly get into your groove.

eloise: ball. Your new favorite thing to say. You roll that L sound around in your mouth seconds after you’ve said the word. As you say it, you sign it proudly too. And don’t get me started on your love for chairs these days. Anywhere we go, you want to try out the chairs. I tell you the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears and you smile this silly grin whenever I get to the part about the chairs. The one you are sitting in in this picture… why it looks like it fits you .. just right.

“A portrait of Eloise, once a week, every week, in 2014”
eloise: there are bleachers in the park by our home. You have worked your way from walking along the bottom bleacher holding my hand, to walking along on your own to trying to climb to the next one up (and not making it) to, just this week, climbing up to the very tippy top all on your own (and with butterfly wings on). You weren’t scared. You didn’t ask me for help. You got up there, sat with your back against the fence and gave me the proudest look I had ever seen on a 19 month old’s face. You beautiful, determined child.
