What We’re Reading

This kid of mine LOVES books! She sits and looks at books in the morning, she brings me books throughout the day and she sits and reads with Daddy every night. I didn’t even know children this young could be so interested in books.

So, since books are a favorite of Ellie’s and since we regularly visit the library these days, I thought I would start talking about what we read together at home. Being a preschool teacher for over twelve years before staying home with Ellie, I know a thing or two about children’s books. And if you know me personally, you will also know I, myself am an avid children’s book collector. Let’s just say, Ellie had a whole library of books waiting for her even before she was born.

What we’re reading this month:

Ellie in The Fall by Egmont

Meeow and The Big Box by Sebastian Braun

Wuthering Heights : A Weather Primer by Jennifer Adams

Where Does The Brown bear Go? by Nicki Weiss

MoonBear by Frank Asch

Autumn by Gerda Mueller

Where Is Baby’s Pumpkin by Karen Katz

What books are you reading with your little ones this month? (I’d love to hear books for older kids and even what you are reading too!)

* By the way, you can find me over at Anchor and Plume today as well, writing creatively.

  1. Wherever You Are: My Love Will Find You is a toddler pleaser here, as is Click Clack Moo Cows That Type.

I like Fruit and Vegetables (two separate books) by Sara Anderson, and H seems to as well.

A Color of His Own is always a winner.

And we have a set of books illustrated with Old Master paintings that he loves.

A Very Hungry Caterpillar, of course.

H pretty much loves books! He and E would get on fabulously!

    • Those Old Master Painting board books are a favorite set of mine. Ellie only has a couple of used ones I found at the thrift stores. But, I’d love to own the whole set. And yes, The Hungry Caterpillar is always enjoyed here as well. I will have to check out Fruit and Vegetables. I haven’t heard of those.

  2. I also started collecting children’s books, before I ever knew I would have a baby. There were once for me, but now they are for H. I’m also always on the look out for hardcovers (as opposed to board books) for later. I love books. You and I would get on fabulously! (We already do. ❤ )

  3. love the emily bronte one…haven’t seen before.
the first book I ever bought for my first girl, when I was pregnant, was “Hug.” Forgetting the author, but you could find it easily on amazon under kids books. You probably know of it. SO cute. I was crying in the bookstore it was so cute. Remember, I was pregnant. : )

Right now we are about 1/2 way through the little house series. Some of them are better – or rather, more exciting than others, but the whole journey is FANTASTIC and very educational.

    • I love HUG and I don’t believe I own that one. Hmmm… I may just have to take a trip to the bookstore. I CAN NOT wait to read The Little House Series with Ellie. That’s one set of books I am just thrilled to jump into when its time. You should do a post about your experience with it. I would love to read about that!
