Things I’m Grateful For

For the second year in a row now, one of my oldest and dearest friend’s and I are practicing a gratitude ritual. We email each other every Friday with three single lines. Three things we are each grateful for. When I first approached her with the idea I felt a bit silly. I had read how practicing a gratitude journal or something along those lines was good for maintaining a healthy, balanced life. But saying these things to another person felt weird, like I was bragging or showing off. But as soon as we got started, I loved it. It never feels like bragging, in fact, it feels humble to reflect on the things I have to be grateful for each week. It also brings a smile to my face and warmth to my heart to read my friend’s gratitude list each week. I feel honored knowing some of her most treasured moments and it brings even more gratitude to my life. I’m grateful for the weekly reminders to be fully present in this life. So with this in mind, I thought I’d express some gratitudes here for the month of June. You are welcome to play along too. I’d love to hear or see what you’re grateful for this month too. Link up or leave a comment with your gratitudes.

  1. Well, first of all, I’m grateful for my talented, loving and clever granddaughter that does this blog, and for her wonderful pictures that I get to share because of her blog. Next, of course, I’m grateful daily for my family and their love and support for me and everything I do, grateful for the paintings I’ve done,, and those I will do, and lastly, grateful that I am actually walking without a stick or walker at physical therapy, with only two PT”s beside me, not holding on but with their hands close to the belt around my waist. It feels like one heck of a big deal and it means yes, my leg will heal and eventually I’ll be my old self,,,,young old self. Yay for you and yay for me. I think it’s so neat that you and your friend email every Friday. It’s nice to have good friends, isn’t it?

  2. What a beautiful practice – so enriching, eh? Kim and I are on our second year now too and we email lists to each other every day. I look forward to our daily ritual – don’t know what I’d do without it. Enjoy! Hope you are keeping happy and well 🙂 xo

    • You know Renee, I thought it was you and Kim who first inspired me! I think it very well may have been! I’m so happy to hear you and Kim are still going strong with your gratitudes. I thank you for inspiring me.
