A Trip and A Mouse

We’re headed to Boston and New Hampshire this weekend for a week long, little late summer, early fall vacation and visit with Nana and Papa and the rest of the east coast Langille’s. It’s been quite some time since we’ve flown with Ellie. We made this trip multiple times when she was a tiny baby, but haven’t flown this far in quite some time. I’m a little anxious about flying with a toddler, but we’re hopefully as prepared as we’re going to be and fingers crossed it’s a smooth flight. To prep this girl of mine, we picked up a whole bunch of airplane and flying books at the library this week. Ellie took to one of the books right away (Miss Mouse Takes Off– About a little girl who takes her stuffed mouse with her on a trip to see her Nana!) and because she has been enjoying the book so much, I thought I’d make her, her very own Miss Mouse to bring on the trip.

(I thought it might also make the flight go a little smoother with a special friend going along for the ride).

I’m going to have Miss Mouse all set up on the morning we leave with a little note for Ellie, asking if she can go along too (fingers crossed she likes her enough to say yes)!

Wish us luck on the flight please. And I will most likely not be in this space at all next week, except maybe to link up with my portrait.

  1. Good luck kiddo, and sometime would you please let me know what were Ellie’s favorite books when she was a year old, some of those hard page books maybe, and the pink doll she still loves so much, and did you find lots at thrift shops or were all the books new and all the neat dolls like Miss Mouse made by you? Have a wonderful visit. Enjoy everything. I spent a summer on a big lake in NH when I was about 14 and stayed on an island in the middle of the lake. Only way to get there was by boat. We swam in the lake, washed out hair while in the water, had the best time and I think it was called Lake Wentworth. Best summer vacation ever. Great memories.

    • Oh I love your NH lake story! How fun and what special memories. Hoping Ellie will have similar memories of NH lakes one day. 🙂

As for dolls and toys and such… The Corolle Doll (pink baby, her favorite baby) was actually bought when we went to visit you! I believe Gramma and Grandpa bought it in a toy shop in La Conner. But, they are readily available on the internet or even in Barnes and Noble I’ve seen them. Her favorite board books were mostly gifts or thrift store finds but when she was one and even now, she loved Dear Zoo, Any Karen Katz peekaboo type book, The Gerda Mueller seasonal series are EXCELLENT! We love them. The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Guess Who, and Pat the Bunny Sleepy Bunny.
