22 Months and some odds and ends

Ellie is 22 months old today! We’re getting closer to 2, I can’t believe it. She’s definitely acting more like a two-year old and less like a baby these days. All of a sudden, she’s talking in full sentences (many of which we can’t understand just yet, but sentences and words oh my)! She’s also been busy really playing with her toys. She pretends to hide her peg dolls and animals and then they “run, run, run” all over the play mat. She loves anything to do with water; pouring it, drinking it, swimming in it. Once upon a time, we couldn’t get this child to take a bath and now she’s a water aficionado. She starts a swimming class with her Daddy at the end of the month. Something low-key, at our local city pool, where she’ll just be getting used to being in the water and learning some basic techniques. I’m hoping she will enjoy this time with her Dada as well as the swimming. The hour they are gone for swimming, Mama gets to enjoy some creative painting and crafting time, so as anxious as I am about Ellie doing a class with Daddy (away from me), I’m trying to see it more as a great way for them to connect and for me to get some Mama time in.

Other things happening around these parts…

I just put a few new things in my Etsy shop! Some summertime inspired peg dolls and a lovely summer time play mat (that I really wanted to keep for myself,  I liked it so much) and I created a Snow Queen for my “Frozen” mats for those families who would rather have the original Hans Christen Anderson story instead of the Disney-fied version. Check them out here!

I’ve also been trying to fit in painting here and there. I’m desperately trying to catch up in this online class I’m taking. There’s a break this summer, so hopefully I’ll be able to keep up. It’s challenging and exciting and sometimes frustrating when my art doesn’t come out on paper the way I see it in my head, but I think that’s probably a good step to learning more and getting better.

15 Months!

ellie 15 months

15 months is here already! This little girl is growing fast! And she just keeps getting more fun! She loves dancing to music and sitting at her table. She has a fascination with chairs and getting into any she sees. She loves dressing her baby doll up and pushing her in the stroller. I occasionally am asked to “nurse” her baby dolls and animals these days when she’s needing some mid day “milky milk”. Daddy and I get lots of hugs and kisses from our sweet girl and we are also learning how to gently ease her through some tough moments as well. Toddler tantrums are in full swing as well. She’s so full of life and energy, it’s hard not to smile when you are around this little girl. We are loving her up!

* Every month I will be taking a photo of Ellie in her rocking chair with her “Pink Baby” (or any toy she deems worthy at the moment).

(I know, I’m a little late getting this one up). Ellie is just growing so quickly. She’s racing around the house now and creating, as Jeff likes to call it, the “Ellie tornado”. She get’s up every morning and first thing she does is sit in front of her book-case, take each book out and go through it like she’s reading. This girl loves books and I’m hoping it stays that way. She is also loving her new walking skills and wants to walk everywhere. It’s been pretty difficult keeping her in a carrier or a stroller. She is keeping us on our toes but we are also just so completely in love with our little monkey. It was hard on our date this weekend to talk about anything or anyone else, but our baby girl!

13 months is here already! My little girl is no longer a baby these days. She is a full-blown toddler and yesterday took her first real steps. (I say real because she’s been taking a step here and there, but never 7 or 8 like she did last night). Very exciting toddler things happening in our house, very exciting! This very busy 13 month old has also been teething like crazy and sleeping like she doesn’t want to miss ANYTHING (which means we are all very sleepy around these parts). But, she’s oh so busy learning about the world and it’s so neat seeing her brain in working and learning mode. She likes dumping things and throwing things and putting things into things (one of her favorite past times is taking all the laundry out of the basket and then putting it all back in again, repeat, repeat, repeat. We’ve been putting on more classical music for her and she seems to be enjoying that, but does not like when anyone sings specific sad songs (like Taps or When You Wish Upon A Star). She loves swimming at our friend’s pool, throwing sand out of the sandbox and pushing chairs all over the house. She shows her frustrations through clenching her fists and glaring and will certainly let you know if she doesn’t like something. She cuddles in the morning, waves at people in Target and calls out for “Dada if she’s not ready to go to sleep at night. She’s been on a reading binge too which we like. She will bring Daddy, Panda Bear, Panda Bear nightly and loves books with animals in them. We love our Miss Ellie Lou with all her spunk and personality and we’re looking forward to watching what 13 months brings!

*Where is the bunny we’ve been using for the past 12 months, you may be wondering? Ellie just loves her “pink baby”. She carries it around, she’s been dressing pink baby and putting blankets on her and giving her kisses, so I thought this month we’d highlight her favorite toy in her chair instead of a toy she likes alright. Pink Baby it is!
