1/52 and 2/52

Happy New Year! Hoping you had a wonderful holiday and New Year.
Well, here we go again… the 52 project. I’m hoping I do a better job this year than I did with last year’s. Although, it looks as if I’m already behind two weeks. Gah!

Portrait Project (catch-up)

Playing catch-up once again here on the blog. I swear I’m constantly thinking about this space, but I’ve just had so much trouble finding time to get here. So here are 29 and 30 a week or two late.
29/52
29/52eloise: I couldn’t help myself with this one. Here we were in Washington, two years (to the day!) and in the same spot I took your portrait as last time. My you’ve grown. I’m so glad you got to visit this very special place and spend time with your Great Grandmother. I’m also so very glad you got to meet your Great Grandpa Earl before he passed away.

30/52eloise: Summertime. Naked, reading books in her tent outside. A week away from turning 3. This portrait is the epitome of Ellie.

17/52eloise: You want to dress up in your “Wendy” dress pretty much every day. “I’m Wendy today”, you say. But you act a lot more like Peter Pan. You are asserting your independence. Bossing others around, doing things on your own and not needing our help and showing us some very big emotions. We are trying to be patient and gentle through this phase, but some days we all struggle. But, as one of your favorite books reads, “I love you when you’re angry and cross your arms and pout. I love you when you’re wild and yell and scream and shout. I love you any way you feel, no matter what you do. I love you any way you are. I love you because you’re you!” (I love you Because you’re you by Liza Baker)

eloise: Peter Pan. You love it. Everything about it. We listen to the Mary Martin soundtrack daily. You enjoy watching the Cathy Rigby stage version on Friday movie nights. You pretend to be Wendy and dance like Peter Pan and chase me around like Captain Hook (we found these “hooks” at Target the other day and as much as I’m not a plastic toy fan, how could we not buy this). We have even read bits and pieces of J.M. Barrie’s novel aloud to you. I love the magic of it all.
