washington

eloise: we went to visit your Great-Gramma in Washington this past week. It was your first time meeting my Dad’s mom, your first trip to Washington, your first trip with your grandparents and your first trip without Daddy. The trip was wonderful. This is a photo of you playing in her yard. Her home has some thing magical about it. I think you thought so too. You were a real trooper with all the car travel, train travel and plane travel. You managed to somehow get sick the day we left though. I’m glad you had fun and I’m hoping you get better quickly!

(I’m playing catch-up with my blog posts this week after a fun, busy trip and now tending to a feverish baby… hoping to be in this space a little more next week).

red wagon girl

eloise: one of your birthday presents from your Grandparents arrived early! A red wagon! We tried it out this week after Daddy and Grandpa put it together and you loved riding in it! I can’t believe you are so close to turning one! My little almost one year old with her bunny, in her very own red wagon! Too precious for words!

I loved this magical photo and this fourth of july cutie and this special birthday reminded me of my own almost birthday girl!

boo w car

eloise: there were four other pictures I could have posted for today’s portrait. But the whole of this shot just tickled me. Your little grin, that twinkle in your eye, the way you sit with your little foot crossed over the other. You have so much personality for an 11 month old, I can’t get over it some days.

Portrait Project: three/52

This portrait project is halfway over (wow! how did that happen?!) and Jodi has asked the participants to pick their favorite three photos for a halfway point post. I love looking back at these because Ellie has grown so much in just 26 short weeks. I’m so excited to see this project through and have documentation in portrait form of my darling baby girl. Without further adieu… my three favorites:

good shot

eloise: it was hard for me to choose this week, but this picture just says summer-time and cuteness all rolled up into one. You were trying raspberries for the first time (hence the red bits around your mouth), but what I really like about this shot is how your eyes sparkle and shine and the fact that you can see that second tooth popping through too! You are growing up so quickly all of a sudden. So much new hair, new teeth, new words, new baby signs and so much personality now. You certainly are my sunshine, raspberry face and all!

*It was my birthday this week too and my wonderful husband surprised me with a new lens. I’m learning slowly but this is one of the shots I took with the new lens this week. I’m glad I have a very cute someone to practice on every day.

– Last week’s favorites were Abigailandthefuture and a field of flowery goodness and goodmorningclementine’s live action shot.

flower girl

eloise: you were the flower girl in your uncle Matt’s and aunt Jenn’s wedding this past saturday and you did wonderfully! We stuck you in this very uncomfortable but unforgettably darling flower girl dress and you wore it like a pro. It was so hard not to keep taking photo after photo of my darling angelic looking girl. We changed you out of the poofy thing right after the ceremony. I walked you down the aisle and you seemed pleased with all of the attention you were getting. A happy memory for us indeed. My little flower girl!

nanas yard

eloise: This is a picture of you in your Nana and Papa’s back yard. We are here in Boston for the week for your Uncle Matt’s wedding. You did really well on the flight here and you are getting comfortable with all your aunties and uncles and cousins. Everyone thinks you look so big since the last time they saw you and they are all so excited to spend this very special week with you.

eloise: it’s neat to watch you with bigger kids. You got to play with your cousins (my very young, first cousins) and I loved watching the engaged, interested way you interacted with them. And again at the park with a little girl this week; you were rolling your ball to her and following her around on all fours. It’s a whole new realm now, you are growing into a social little girl and I can already see you want to get out into the world, meet people and play away!

My favorites from last week : I loved this magical shot. This sweet girl and her freckles. And what a cute snail!

rascal

eloise: this week you have been a rascal! Those teeth have still not come in, even though we can feel nubs pushing their way out. This has made for a grumpy baby. However, I think you have quite the personality shining through too. You know what you want and you let us know! You are throwing your body back when we try to put you in the car seat or the stroller. You will slap food away when we offer it and sometimes throw whatever is in your hand. You are struggling through every diaper and clothing change. You are quite the rascal these days! We’re trying our best to be patient and parent gently. All these tough times are worth it though when you snuggle in close to us at night. You cuddled into Daddy’s chest while we took the dogs for their walk and he melted with love. You curled up with me while I rocked you to sleep the other night and I hugged you close and breathed your sweet smell in. We love you our spirited girl! And we hope those teeth come in soon too!

Last week I loved this photo, this one and this!
