Weekending!

A busy weekend
Sleepless nights (I blame the full moon and new teeth)
A stumble upon the St. Patrick’s Day Parade downtown while headed to the farmers market.
Dinner with Grandma and Grandpa.
Dinner with Nana and Papa.
Walks in the wagon and longer days.
Flowers galore!
New handmade dish drying mat (finally got to it)!
(Hot!) Spring Gardening days.
Homemade strawberry muffins
A beautiful sunday boiled corn-beef and cabbage dinner, Thank you to Nana and Papa!!! (Sadly, no photos. I was too busy trying to get a wildly excited toddler to eat her food and not throw her food, I’m telling you- full moon! ).
I head to bed tired but happy and hoping that tonight we get some rest.

How was your weekend?

Weekending!

A busy weekend of birthday parties, visits to the beach, rides on the trolley, throwing pennies in fountains, spring flowers in bloom, beautiful blue skies and very hot weather, making for some fantastic sunsets.

The weekend started off VERY wet. Jeff and his Dad worked on wood working projects in the garage while Mama got some time to thrift sans baby (Ellie kept Nana busy at home).

Ellie received a fun toy piano from her Uncle. We are convinced she’s a genius with her excellent rhythm and soul.

The weather lent itself to lots of homemade soups and stews, the making of some new softie toys (a crescent moon, a rain cloud and a rain drop, I’m a little obsessed over making these fun little guys), and lots and lots of book reading, for Ellie and for Mama.

Sunday afternoon we asked Ellie what she would like to do… and a few minutes later, we were off to the beach. An excellent way to end a very nice weekend, if I do say so myself.

Weekending!

Saturday was a lovely breakfast/brunch with my oldest, dearest friends. Then off to Nana and Papa’s (with Gramma and Grandpa too) for a family barbecue. Sunday we took it easy, a bike ride in the morning to our favorite local butcher, some sewing and painting for me to wind down. And take-out lunch to the beach. We ended the day at the mini sea center/native gardens across from the beach. We took Daddy to all the places Ellie and I like to visit during the week. How was your weekend?

This Saturday we made our way back to the beach again with Nana and Papa and Auntie Lindsey. Ellie was in her element, scooping sand between her fingers and running along side of us down by the water. It was chilly be the time we made it down there but Ellie didn’t seem to mind in the least. We took a walk through the local marsh, hoping to spot some ducks and found pebbles, pretty flowers and interesting birds a long the way. Before heading back to Nana and Papa’s apartment, we did a little bit of antique-ing and shop browsing. Jeff found an old banjo record.

Sunday the weather was beautiful. The day started off rough when we attempted to eat out for breakfast and an 18 month old little person had other plans. But after a well needed nap, we enjoyed a beautiful day with the in-laws again, playing outside in the sensory tubs, taking a little bike ride (Ellie rode in the trailer we borrowed from a friend), dancing to some family banjo and guitar practice, folding linens and finishing the evening off with delicious homemade lentil chili.

We are very much on the upswing of this bug. Only the cough seems to be lingering now. We all stayed well hydrated this weekend and finished up Daddy’s homemade chicken soup. Nana and Papa spent most of the weekend with us. Papa and Daddy fixing up the car that my In-laws will  drive while they are in California. Ellie and Nana playing and reading and enjoying each others company. Mama catching up on laundry and dishes and cleaning. Sunday we felt Ellie was well enough to spend an afternoon down by the beach. She was overjoyed being outside again and not cooped up in the house. We then took a walk down to see the seals in the town my In-laws are staying. One seal had just given birth and there were several more nursing their little pups. It was really neat watching them. We got to watch the train go by as well. One of Ellie’s favorite things to do these days.We ended the night with Thai takeout and a nice drive home with a happy baby. A lovely, fun evening for all of us.

Weekending

Not the most productive or fun weekend we’ve had. In fact, on Saturday I came down with a full-blown migraine that left me upstairs recovering in a dark room for the rest of the night. I hadn’t had a migraine in years so this really knocked my socks off. Sunday we bought new baskets at the farmers market that I had been hoping to gather for organizing Ellie’s toys with. And we got some of this years seeds planted too, which was exciting. My parents were with us for part of Sunday and Ellie enjoyed watching Gramma fix my sewing machine before bath time. Now off to an early bed time for me. How was your weekend?

Oh January… I love you so,  for letting me get excited about goals and gardens and new recipes of the year and projects I want to accomplish and books I want to start and lists I continually make throughout the month….

It was another slow weekend, so I tried to take advantage and get some crafting done and some planning done, as well as some organizing and cleaning. Saturday I went to a lovely baby sprinkle for a lovely Mama friend having her second baby. It was so much fun sipping pink champagne and talking about babies and birth and all that goodness with some lovely, beautiful friends (I made the baby a Lambie softie and I’m excited to share it with you in more detail this week). Sunday Jeff worked on bottling some home-brew and fermenting Mead. It’s his first time making Mead and he’s very excited about it. My kitchen has certainly seen cleaner days however. We have been picking so many oranges and lemons off our tree lately. I’ve been giving them away by the bushel. Jeff made PHO for dinner and we took a lovely little walk around the block in the late afternoon, looking at flowers and spotting the moon in the early evening sky. Ellie insisted on holding her Daddy’s hand the whole way. How was your weekend?
