eloise: you walk around with the silk over your head, “Way A-ya, A-Eeee?” There she is!! You continue the same game over and over and each time you laugh with joy as if it’s the first time you’ve ever played it.
*you refer to yourself as “A-ya” (Ella) but whenever I say, “Ell-uh?”, you correct yourself and say, “no. A-Eeeee!”

eloise: An action shot for this week’s portrait (because it’s getting harder and harder to catch just your face these days). We were back at the beach this week. It was cooler this time around, finally feeling a bit like January. These days you have been very busy, very sensitive and needing to be very close to Mama at all times. Except when I take you to the beach. You run carefree. Your face lights up as you chase the birds and run down to the waters edge. You squish your toes in the sand and exclaim, “more, more, more!”

A special book made up of 52 weeks of photos arrived today! It’s such a lovely keepsake and I’m so glad I decided to go with a bigger book* than I usually go with. I spent one very, very late night working on putting this book together so we could have it for the New Year. I did not have anything organized prior to the other night and will do that very differently for the next 52 Project. My disorganization sure did make for a late night of cutting and pasting and retyping and trying to find the matching photos. But, the book got done, Ellie loves it and we spent the day enjoying the photos and the memories of last year.
* After much deliberation (or lack of time and organization, I went with Shutterfly (and their basic model in a 10 x 10 size … I wanted the photos to be the focus). Originally, I was planning on going with some one different and a little more artsy, but Shutterfly was easy and quick, I had worked with their products before and I had two coupons too (you can’t beat coupons). I’m very happy with the product.

eloise: fifty-two weeks… you are a week shy of seventeen months old. A different smile captured. A little more child-like and less baby-like. A year of joy, watching you grow and develop and flourish. I love you, child of mine.

eloise: a warmish December evening, just before dark. You sat on this rock and turned toward me, almost as if posing for the shot. We ran down this beach twice this week. You loved every minute of it until we had to go. A California beach baby for sure.
