sleeper kitten

eloise: I realized I hadn’t captured you sleeping yet in any of these portraits. You’ve spent so many hours in my arms or lying next to me napping. I love gazing down at this little person I’ve made. You are slowly beginning to transition to napping on your own, in your own bed  and I know I’m going to miss you cradled in my arms fast asleep. You are growing quickly my dear and I dare say, I’m already seeing less of a baby and more of a little girl each new day.

exploring

eloise: It was so difficult choosing a portrait this week from the fantastic shots I took of you playing in the grass. But this one stuck out for me for some reason. Maybe because after a long, tough week of teething upsets and restless sleep and fussing because you want to keep moving and not go to sleep at all… these moments in the yard were precious. You kept picking up leaves that had fallen from the orange tree and crunching them in your hands. You were fascinated by them and for once in the past couple weeks, instead of crawling and standing everywhere, you just sat there exploring. It was neat to watch and document and of course gave this Mama a bit of a peaceful and much needed recharge.I could have chosen one of the adorable shots of your smiling face, but this one seemed the most appropriate… you are completely engulfed in your important work of the child. Carry on and enjoy my love.

ellie has her very own room

eloise: your mama has been very busy making you your very own room. You have always been near us, sleeping with us, in a carrier close to our hearts… but now you are crawling and pulling yourself to a standing position all over the house and all of a sudden, you are getting farther away from us then ever before, exploring the world around you. So now I’m wanting to create a safe space just for you. Somewhere you can play and crawl and climb and relax. A special place all about you. We’re still working on it but you seemed pretty happy with what we have done so far!

This week I loved crumbbums, oanabefort and those spring time flowers, and expatriababy and that beautiful head of hair!

happy girleloise: you are one funny little girl these days. Exploring the house, getting into things, making mommy freak out about baby proofing everything… and you are one vocal little girl too! You love hearing the sound of your own voice, thus constant screaming, growling, dadadadaing and other such noises are constantly being heard throughout the house and everywhere we go. I like this shot of you because we get to see you in action, yelling with that gummy grin and trying to crawl outside to get to those doggies

beach day

eloise: we spent a morning at Marina Park this week and I decided to lay the blanket out in the sand right by the ocean this time. It was fun seeing you dip your toes in the sand and scrunch them up trying to figure out if you liked the textures or not. You also enjoyed watching the waves crash against the shore. You sat watching the waves for awhile before I got you to look at me and smile for the camera.

toilet roll shot

eloise: you are exploring your toys so much fiercely than ever before. It’s like all of a sudden everything has a purpose and you have made it your life’s work to discover how everything and anything works! We played for quite some time with this toilet paper roll the other day. You would laugh whenever I would peek at you through the hole. When I gave the roll to you to explore, you inspected the thing over in your hands and then tried out how the cardboard tasted as well. It’s neat watching you explore and I know this is just the beginning… I’m excited to watch my little explorer grow!

naked baby

eloise: you are all of a sudden moving! Scooting and kind of crawling and just getting places. You haven’t quite mastered the art of synchronizing those hands and knees to get a real crawl going, but boy that scoot and drag you have going on is certainly getting you places. You resemble an inch worm, inching along at a pretty good pace. We are definitely putting baby gates in the budget for next month.

My favorites from last week are blue eyed Jessica, the fact that there are new babies being born throughout this project and how can you resist a child and their books.

angel baby

Eloise: you had just woken from a nap when I took this picture. Your rosy cheeks and shining eyes made me smile a great big smile. You looked just like an angel. You’ve been sick with a head cold this week and it’s been a tough few days, on you,  Daddy (who got sick too) and Mama. I don’t like hearing you cry and not being able to make it all better. I’ve tried my best though with lots of cuddles, nursing, rocking and wearing you in the carrier. Get better my angel. I love you so.

This week I loved the innocence of this portrait. These furry friends. And I think Jodi’s portrait of Che might be my favorite of hers so far (Poet is pretty darn cute as well).

lovely eyes

Eloise: You are a drooly mess these days but no teeth. No little buds, no nothing… except for drool. Lot’s of drool and lots of nursing. I’m keeping the teethers stocked!

I can’t believe we are already into week 10 with this project. I am learning a lot about my camera. Enjoying taking it everywhere with me and capturing the little moments in my family’s lives.

I loved baby Cecily this week and her adorable outfit. This take on the project was simply lovely. And Loved the colors in this shot.
