Weekending

This weekend we celebrated my Dad’s birthday. My mom,  my siblings and their significant others and Jeff and Ellie and I were there. Lots of good food and treats and excitement.  The morning though was spent at a friend’s house for a mama book club. We discussed The Book of Joe. (A really light and good read). The host had cold brew coffee and home cooked scones and four of us enjoyed some kid free time, discussing all sorts of topics. It was a very lovely morning!

Sunday, Jeff and Ellie made blueberry turnovers and we spent the afternoon doing chores and managing a very moody almost 3-year-old.

How was your weekend?

Weekending!

This weekend I got to participate in a real live craft swap (so far they’ve only been online). I made several “tea for two” sets that included a hand embroidered spring sheep mug rug, two hand stamped linen napkins and of course some tea in a little paper pouch. I received some lovely goodies in return too.

It was nice getting together with some crafty ladies, eating yummy homemade food and chatting about babies and birth and of course, crafts.

The rest of the weekend was a slow one. We stayed close to home because Jeff was feeling under the weather. We spent Sunday afternoon enjoying the beachy weather. And I got to finish a dress for myself and a little spring top for Ellie.

I’m finding children’s clothes are far more forgiving than busty adult women clothes. But, even if I may look like I’m five months pregnant (which I am definitely NOT), I’m still loving wearing clothes that I made for myself. And I’m hoping that if I keep at it, my skills will get better and they will fit me a little better. In the mean time, I’ll enjoy my creations for what they are, comfortable and, I think, pretty darn cute.

Ellie was quite the wild child on the beach. I think daylight savings and last week’s full moon was getting to her. She was like Max and Peter Pan’s Lost Boys all rolled into one. Oh my wild beachy child!

Happy Week to you friends!!

Weekending!

What a beautiful weekend we had! The weather was glorious! A perfect way to welcome March. So spring like, I had to switch out our play and nature tables. They just couldn’t go another day being “winter”. I know pretty much everywhere else its white and snowy and cold, but it’s been very springy here and our tables needed to reflect that. Anyway, I came down with a little head cold, so between “required” resting (which I hate to do) and little outings here and there, it was still such a nice weekend. Yesterday’s beach walk was quite spectacular. The sky was amazing and the sea was a color blue I had never seen before. We searched for sea glass, skipped stones, and enjoyed the weather. Happy Week to everyone!

Weekending!

It was another quick but rather relaxing weekend. We didn’t have many plans. Grocery shopping, garden plans, crafting, lazy park play dates, visits to the library for Mama and pancakes in the morning. Jeff was happy as a clam his hometown team won the Superbowl. I was happy as a clam I got some more crafting done while Ellie played with Gramma. It was a nice weekend.

Weekending!

Oh my! I’ve been so busy, I forgot to post “Weekending”…. A busy, quick weekend, with one sick husband, a joyful, moody two-year old (cause that’s how 2 year olds roll) and some time to finish up some crafts thanks to Gramma and Grandpa.

While we were at my parents, I was able to finish up some arctic and Antarctica playmats and peg dolls for a Waldorf swap I’m in. I love how they came out. I made 5 Antarctica shaped (loosely), play mats made from cotton batik and wool felt. They have an explorer peg doll to go with them. And I made 5 ice cap Arctic mats, with an Inuit peg person to go with it. It was the first time I had done any free motion quilting and even though I don’t think I am very good at it yet, I am kind of loving it. It’s bringing a new feel to my playmats that I am definitely digging. These guys get shipped out this week and then hopefully by the end of the month, I will have a whole box of handmade Arctic/Antarctic goodies to share with you (and with Ellie). 😉

It was a lovely weekend. Busy and fun but also slow and steady. Just what we needed after our trip back East. All the Christmas decorations packed up and put away. Laundry done. Windows got washed. Getting back into the groove of things…
I got to finally meet a friend from my online community of mamas. I’ve talked about this amazing group of women before. They have helped me get through the tough sleepless nights and they’ve become my best friends in the two years I’ve known them. But, I’ve never met any of them, until this weekend. Sarah and her family were in town and we took that opportunity to meet in person. It really was like we had been friends forever. A wonderful couple hours with a new, old friend. 😉
We hung out with my parents the rest of the day. Lots of dancing and banjo music.
Sunday we spent enjoying California’s tide pools with good friends. It’s always so much fun watching Ellie with her playmates. Her interactions with other children (especially her best bud) have developed and grown richer. She ended the night wanting to give her friend a big hug. It warmed all of our hearts. A great day. A great weekend.
Wishing you a wonderful start to your week!!
